Safeguarding Policy
1. Policy Statement
Grown in Harmony CIC is a Community Interest Company committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk, including older people. We are dedicated to creating safe, inclusive environments in all our community and nature-based activities.
2. Purpose
This policy protects individuals, provides guidance to staff and volunteers, and ensures a consistent and lawful safeguarding response.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, Directors, contractors, and all organisational activities.
4. Legal Framework
Includes Children Act 1989 & 2004, Care Act 2014, Working Together guidance, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, and Data Protection Act 2018.
5. Definitions
Children: under 18. Adults at risk: individuals unable to protect themselves due to vulnerability. Safeguarding: protecting from harm and promoting wellbeing.
6. Types of Abuse
Includes physical, emotional, sexual, neglect, financial, and discriminatory abuse.
7. Safeguarding Principles
Welfare is paramount. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Concerns are acted on promptly and respectfully.
8. Roles and Responsibilities
DSL manages concerns and referrals. Staff report concerns. Directors ensure systems and culture are in place.
9. Safer Recruitment
DBS checks, references, role clarity, and safeguarding training are implemented.
10. Code of Conduct
Respect, appropriate boundaries, no inappropriate relationships, and reporting of concerns are mandatory.
11. Responding to Concerns
Recognise, Respond, Record, Report. Contact emergency services if needed.
12. Recording and Confidentiality
Records are accurate, secure, and shared only when necessary.
13. Partnership Working
Work with local authorities, police, and health professionals.
14. Training
All staff receive safeguarding training; DSL receives enhanced training.
15. Policy Review
Reviewed annually or when required.
